Financial help

The Social Fund, which is part of the social security system, can give grants for those arranging a funeral who do not have sufficient money to cover the cost. There are rules governing who can receive a grant and the amount payable so it is always advisable to check what help you can get before making the arrangements.

The person who applies for the grant must be in receipt of a means-tested benefit and be considered to be responsible for making the arrangements and have savings below a certain level
